The Challenge

The Engineering department at Middlesbrough College identified a growing gap between students’ technical ability and their readiness for life and work beyond college. While learners were progressing academically, there were challenges around engagement, confidence, communication, and the development of essential soft skills needed for employment and progression. The College wanted a solution that complemented the existing curriculum without adding pressure to teaching staff.

The Approach

We worked in close partnership with the Engineering team to embed a series of targeted workshops directly into the course timetable. Rather than delivering one-off sessions, we became an integrated part of the learning experience over a three-month period, aligning content with the realities students would face after college and reinforcing key life skills alongside technical learning.
