Case Studies
Bishop Auckland College
Bishop Auckland College is a further education college based in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, offering a broad range of provision from school leaver programmes and T Levels through to apprenticeships, adult learning, and higher education qualifications delivered in partnership with The Open University. Rated Good by Ofsted, the college is known for outperforming national achievement rates and growing its student numbers year on year, guided by its ethos of making learning come alive for every student who walks through its doors.

The Challenge
Bishop Auckland College wanted to ensure new students began their college journey with the skills, mindset, and structure needed to succeed. With learners arriving from a wide range of backgrounds and courses, the College recognised the importance of addressing common challenges early — particularly around time management, personal effectiveness, and proactive wellbeing — to support engagement, retention, and academic success from the outset.
The Approach
We partnered with the College to embed a series of full-day workshops and coaching sessions directly into orientation week. By engaging students before academic pressures increased, the programme focused on helping learners build strong foundations early, understand expectations, and take ownership of their time, wellbeing, and learning experience.
